BEST FOR VALUE FOR NV2 ELITE BIBSHORT!
Altura’s top of range bib shorts deliver excellent performance in a good value package
The Altura NV2 Elite bib shorts are well designed for the UK rider. For starters, they’re quite generously cut. I was comfortable in a Small, despite usually being a Medium. It’s probably worth checking the fit before you buy.
The Altura NV2 Elite bib shorts have quite a long leg, which looks smart. They’re closed with wide single layer grippers, which use Altura’s Darkproof matt grey reflective material. This ensures excellent reflectivity in car headlights, if you’re riding after dark or in low light.
Altura’s Pro 3D pad is quite thick and includes perforated foam under the inner surface, for a bit of extra air circulation. It’s not quite as dense as some, but the thickness makes up for this and helps provide a comfortable long distance ride. The pad has a gel layer and a moisture wicking covering for additional comfort.
The bibs are an open mesh construction, with a hemmed edge. In size Small, I found them a little short on me, although not uncomfortably so. In the bottom of their back, there are a couple of pockets for your keys – or just a couple of emergency gels.
The main fabric used for the Altura NV2 Elite bib shorts is comfortably stretchy and supportive. It’s not quite as loosely woven as some, making the Altura NV2 Elite bib shorts good for typical UK spring and summer conditions, as they provide a bit of wind protection.
Altura says that its fabric uses Altura Dry technology to help wick sweat away from the skin. It certainly leads to a comfortable ride, when you do start to get warm. Almost all the seams are flatlocked too, so there’s less chance of discomfort and Altura’s fit works well on the bike, with no obvious rucking or pressure points.
The Altura NV2 Elite bib shorts are comfortable for longer rides in typical UK conditions. They have a plush, quality pad and a good fit, aided by flatlocked seams. The reflective leg grippers are a nice bonus for increased safety too.
