Herne Hill Velodrome was the setting for ThunderTrack IV as riders from all over the capital and further afield battled it out on the historic track. The North London Thundercats hosted the event, which featured a Kierin, Points race, Scratch race, the aptly named ThunderCrawl and the popular elimination race or Devil. Polished race tactics, high levels of fitness and a little bit of luck would be required to be crowned ThunderTrack champion and take home one of the custom Altura ThunderTrack winners jerseys..
Although rain was forecast for the day it never really materialised and there were good times a plenty to be had out on the track and in the stands. The Altura warm up area was open to all riders, allowing them to keep the legs spinning and the muscles loose in between races. A healthy number of competitors in both the men’s and women’s races, plus an increasingly vocal crowd, ensured some fantastic racing, with the ThunderCrawl being decided by a photo finish!
