Race Update 24th March 2014

Altura Nutcracker MTB Series

Over the weekend the first round of the premier northern MTB XC series kicked off at the popular Dalby Forest Trail Centre, where over 400 riders enjoyed the sunny conditions to take on the race.

In the Elite Race, John Hopkinson continued his good form coming in 5th for the TORQ Performance Team, with teammate Ed McParland in 9th. Joanne Clay was 3rd in the Elite Women.

In Expert, Wheelbase Altura MGD's Jack Humphreys took top step on the podium, with teammates Hamish Fletcher-Cooney in 3rd and James Harman in 8th.

Cadence National Junior Series Road Race

The Haribo Beacon Junior Squad dominated the first round of the NJS with a conclusive 1st, 2nd, 3rd for James Shaw, Joe Evans and Levi Moody. Tom Bayliss finished 5th.

Mark Barry {DS} commented “Today we knew we would be a marked team after James [Shaw] showed his early season form, but we have a great team who are all prepared to ride for each other so we took the racing by the scruff of the neck from km1. Team work is probably the most important component within the team both with our riders and support staff. The lads followed team orders to the ‘t’ today and it’s great to see young guys taking on board everything we have been working on over the winter. Tom Baylis took the first three KOM primes, with James picking up the remaining four.
