Velo 29 Altura Sportive Series Announced

The Only Sportive Series in the UK that Awards a General Classification to Riders

Velo 29 Altura Cycling Events are pleased to introduce the first and only sportive series in the UK to award a general classification to riders. Best Youth Rider, General Classification and King of the Mountain jerseys will be up for grabs at each of the events, with points accumulated from each event towards the overall series jerseys. This unique format allows riders the opportunity to truly challenge themselves over the three events, giving them the opportunity to excel in areas of the course that are best suited to them.

The three events take in a wide range of North Yorkshire’s countryside, including some of the most challenging KOM’s in the area. Each event also includes 3 different routes, allowing riders to choose the route most suitable to their abilities, while still being able to challenge themselves for one of the jerseys in their category.

Daffodils Sportive – 26th April

Open the season with the world famous Farndale daffodils. Depart Thirsk on one of 3 routes, from 35 to 88 miles. Take in the 25% KOM of Blakey Bank. Quiet roads, beautiful scenery and a challenge for all abilities. Set your stake in the ground for the GC and KOM rider challenges.

Endeavour Sportive – 12th July

Ride out from Stockton on closed roads with a motor cycle escort, just like Tour de France star! 5 routes from 32 miles to the new ‘le tour de moor’ super challenge route of 108 miles, with 10,000ft of climbing. 5 KOM’s feature on the route, a serious summer challenge and a great opportunity to pick up points for the GC and KOM jerseys.

White Horse Sportive – 27th September

The White Horse takes place on quiet roads with great scenery. 3 routes from 30 to 70 miles on roads you will not forget but never be able to find. Take in the White Horse of Kilburn KOM, at 25% it’s a killer, as well as Carlton Bank, a previous National Championship course. Your last chance for points for the GC and KOM rider challenges.
